Damhead Creek Power Station
Damhead Creek Power Station is an efficient, combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power station located on the Hoo Peninsula in Kent.
Built and commissioned in 2000, the station is capable of generating 793MW of electricity.
The station’s two gas turbines run on natural gas and the hot exhaust gases are used to produce steam and generate more electricity using a team turbine generator.
Damhead Creek is built on reclaimed industrial land. ScottishPower owns land adjacent to the station, and is currently developing plans for another efficient CCGT power station at the site.
Damhead Creek Power Station operates subject to conditions contained in an Environmental Permit issued and enforced by the Environment Agency.
The station’s Environmental Management System is certified to the international standard ISO 14001 and meets the requirements of the EU’s Eco Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS).
